Toronto Harbourfront Restaurants
Rob Parker:Toronto’s Harbourfront area offers a unique setting for a fun night out on the town. Located on the north shore of Lake Ontario, the harbourfront is a very popular tourist destination as well as a haven for the hip and rich, many of whom own condominiums in some of the very latest developments around the area. One of the main attractions of Harbourfront is its many restaurants. You can expect these restaurants to be particularly packed in the summer time, when tourist traffic combines with locals seeking the nightlife to make the front a bustling center of activity.

As far as dining goes, there are several experiences that Harbourfront offers unique to the area. One restaurant that is extremely popular is the Boathouse Bar & Grill. This is a family restaurant, but there are sections reserved for adults. There are two patios overlooking the lake, and the restaurant insists that almost every seat in the house has a view. For a more specific menu, you can check out the Italian influences of Il Fornello. This restaurant is part of a chain, buts it unique atmosphere in Toronto features towering glass doors surrounding a 200-seat patio. Lakeside Terrace offers a casual café atmosphere where patrons can take in all the sights and sounds of the different performances scheduled. All three of these restaurants are located at historic Queen’s Quay.

The festive restaurant atmosphere is by no means limited to Queen’s Quay. Diners looking for reliable Italian chains have a chance to partake at one of the finest restaurants in the country at the Old Spaghetti Factory on the Esplanade.

This restaurant has locations all over Canada, and is known for its great atmosphere, huge portions, cheap prices, great staff, and three course meals. All the bread you can eat, and complimentary spumoni ice cream to top it all off!

Those looking for a piece of Canadiana in their dining experience might want to check out Wayne Gretzky’s restaurant, located on Blue Jays Way. A full menu with prices that can only be called “Great” combine with a down home atmosphere to reflect the style of the country’s greatest athlete.

For a truly unique dining restaurant, check out Church Street, where the restaurant voted the most popular among Toronto area French restaurants is located. Le Papillon offers a menu that includes brunch, lunch, and dinner, as well as the finest wines and desserts around. Le Papillon specializes in crepes and other French fare.

The Harbourfront area in Toronto is a great place to dine on any occasion thanks to the combination of its spectacular scenery and the tasty fare offered by its numerous establishments. Despite a large number of dining opportunities, though, guests are encouraged to make reservations, since all of the restaurants enjoy a brisk business.
